Meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 6:00 pm and are posted on the bulletin board at the Town Hall and on the calendar. The Technology Committee was formed in 2007 to help address some of the technological needs of the Town of Otis. Such needs include Broadband service throughout the town, an official Town of Otis website, hardware and software needs of all departments and committees and any other items that are deemed appropriate for the committee to address.
BRINGING BROADBAND to the TOWN of OTIS
The Town of Otis has joined together with 46 other Western Mass communities to bring high speed internet service to Western Massachusetts. Once the 47 towns have voted to form Municipal Lighting Plants for each town, we will then be eligible to join the WiredWest Cooperative, which will be the entity that brings high speed internet to the homes of all interested participants in the member communities. Otishad the first of two votes to form their Municipal Lighting Plant on December 14th, 2010 at 7:00 pm. This first vote was passed unanimously by 41 votes. The next vote is anticipated to be during the Annual Town Meeting in May. It is important to come vote at the ANNUAL TOWN MEETING and to know what you are voting for. Forming a Municipal Lighting Plant requires TWO town votes on the
same warrant article, with two-thirds of the voters in favor of the warrant article. Failure of either vote will make the Town of Otis inelligible to vote again for two years.
