Otis Technology Committee
Notes for July 20, 2009
Meeting was not called to order due to not having a quorum.
Present: Larry Gould, Lisa D’Orazio, Robert Rocke
Minutes from last meeting will be on August’s meeting agenda.
The members present discussed what CPU and software configuration would be best for the new computers planned to be installed for the five PCs for this fiscal year. All three attendees also discussed who the five new computers should go to: the Police Dept., the two in the Selectmen’s office, the Town Garage, and the Assessor’s office for Lee, as well as combining the tax and assessors counter PCs.
The choice of PCs discussed were the IBM Intel Core 2 Duo that comes with XP Professional with a free Windows 7 upgrade, 2 gigabytes of RAM, and a 160 gigabyte hard drive for $482.00. The other was an AMD 64 X2 Dual Core, also with XP Professional with a free Windows 7 upgrade, the same gigabyte configuration, all for $399.00. Also, Bob Rocke noted he has one license for Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, which is a corporate edition, and his license has an unlimited number of installs, so the town could use his license to upgrade the MS Office software. All of the hardware discussed above is available through the Town’s Systemax corporate account.
Attendees departed around 6:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa D’Orazio, recording secretary
