MINUTES OTIS CULTURAL COUNCIL MEETING
Monday, December 12, 2011
- Meeting called to order at 6:15 p.m. In attendance were Mary Anne Cicchillo, Vicki Ernst, Debbie Fogel, Carolyn Garretson, Maria Giraldo, Carol Lombardo, Jeanne Randorf, Anastasia Stanmeyer and Arlene Tolopko
- Minutes of November 28, 2011, were approved.
- Reports
Members were reminded about the Conflict of Interest forms and training due to Lyn Minery by December 31, 2011.
- Finances: Notice from Karen Fink re bounced checks—Committee needs to be responsible for collecting the money due.
Publicity: Vicki volunteered to do a newsletter for OCC.
The remainder of the meeting was spent on trying to set up a schedule. A printed copy of the preliminary schedule, made by Ilona, was distributed.
Andrea from Knox Trail would like to meet between Christmas and New Years to discuss the upcoming coffee house program. Valentines Day is not good. Arlene will meet with her to discuss dates for the following events:
Feb. 25th Vicky True
April 21st Jay Mankita
May 26th Charles Neville (We did not give Neville a grant for this. Need to be creative in raising the money.)
July 13th or 14th Robin O’Herin
Other events discussed:
a. Hank Wingate Otis Library museum trip for Mr. Keller’s class ---date? Anastasia will check.
b. Ari spoke to Kim at FRRES re his music workshop for grades 4-6. Need clarification from Kim on June 4th and 7th.
c. Need dates from Robin O’Herin. Jeanne will call her.
d. Vicki will call Jay Mankita to verify Knox Trail date.
e. Otis Community Day sponsored events 6/16:
Cliff Brodeur 2 – 4 PM
Bateria 4 - 6 PM
Dooley Austin 7 – 9 PM?
These need to be coordinated with OCD.
- Library sponsored events:
Bruce Mandel at the Library Dec. 15, 5-6 PM
Greg Maichak at Town Hall July 24th 6-8:30 PM
- Space Camp at FRRES Dec. 8th and Rocket Launch Dec. 10th
Anastasia reported it was a big success. 45 children attended and received free lunch. A book fair was held at the same time.
We granted $400 for this event, $100 of which was to support students who needed it. No one came forward and it was agreed that the $100 would come back to OCC.
Members were reminded to save the Boxtops for Schools. There is a collection box at the town transfer station. Also sign up for the school programs sponsored by Target and Stop & Shop.
- Next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, January 30th , at Otis Town Hall.
