        MINUTES

Members Present: Patrick Barrett, Ernie Hood, John Skrip, Anita Weinstein, Jane Gleason, Jo Ann Austin.

Call to Order:  Pat Barrett called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM      

Approval of Minutes of Meeting #231:  The Minutes of Meeting #231 were approved as submitted.  Moved Ernie Hood, Seconded John Skrip.  Voted Unanimous.

Time and Learning Plan:  Superintendent Austin distributed the Time and Learning Plan prepared by Mr. Hatch.  She also informed the Committee that our bus drivers met with administration to problem solve the time of student arrival in order to start our day earlier to meet the 900 hour requirement.  The new schedule allows a little more flexibility for snow delays and field days.

Motion:  To accept the 2008-2009 Principal’s Student Learning Time Proposal.  Moved Anita Weinstein, Seconded John Skrip.  Voted Unanimous.

FY 09 Budget Update:  Jo Ann Austin reviewed the status of our budget.  We will be seeking new quotes for computers and supplies as our original quotation has expired.  A brief discussion of several other changes was held.  

Carryover of Sick Days: A proposal was presented to allow non-union personnel to accumulate sick days up to a specified limit.  Discussion followed about the benefits and pitfalls of this as well as setting a reasonable cap.    

Motion:  To allow non-union staff to accumulate up to 25 sick days by carrying over unused days from year to year.  Moved John Skrip, Seconded Anita Weinstein.  Voted Unanimous.  

Staff Changes:  Superintendent Austin reviewed some changes in the paraprofessional assignments.  She also indicated that duties in the front office are being revamped and reassigned.  Discussion was held about contingency plans for the cafeteria in the event that Lisa Thomas is unable to return for the start of school, pending her doctor’s approval.

Maintenance Update:  Superintendent Austin provided an update on the maintenance projects that are being completed this summer.  Our insurance company is working on repairing and repainting damaged areas.  In addition, the entrance columns are being repainted and several areas in the building are being painted as well.  
Motion:  To adjourn the meeting at 8:10 PM.  Moved John Skrip, Seconded Ernie Hood.  Voted Unanimous.
