        Monday, September 8, 2008 – 7:00 PM

        MINUTES

Members Present: Patrick Barrett, Laurie Nikituk, Roberta Sarnacki, John Skrip, Anita Weinstein, Jane Gleason, Jo Ann Austin.

Guests:  Carol Blakeslee, James Ezequelle

Call to Order:  Laurie Nikituk called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM   

Community Participation:  James Ezequelle addressed the school committee asking that the school put together a program for his son.  Superintendent Austin explained that the District and Mr. Saporito are in the process of exploring several options, which will be presented to him by this Friday.  

Approval of Minutes of Meeting #232:  The Minutes of Meeting #232 were approved as submitted.  Moved John Skrip, Seconded Anita Weinstein.  Voted 4-In Favor, 1 Abstention.

Clarification of Roof Warranty:  The Committee reviewed a letter from our attorney analyzing the extended warranty provided by Titan Roofing and outlining the District’s responsibilities.  

Security System:  Jane Gleason explained the video doorbell security system being installed to provide better control of access to the building.  

Institutional Self-Exam:  Jo Ann Austin explained that in the DOE Comprehensive Review conducted last spring, the Civil Rights area indicated that we need to complete a self-evaluation form and create a teacher handbook.  She provided a copy of the Institutional Self Evaluation and reviewed the results.  

Teacher Handbook: Superintendent Austin, the FRRTA president and the MTA union representative, has drafted the first edition of the Teacher Handbook.  It includes policies required by the DOE and will be reviewed annually and be revised as necessary.  

FY08 Financial Recap:  Jane Gleason provided a summary of our income and expenses for Fiscal 2008.  

FY09 Update:  Jane Gleason provided an update on the costs of the computer lease/ purchase, fuel oil bid and the security system.  A sample of our old computers will be set up on Curriculum Night, October 9th, and will be made available to interested families via a lottery, if necessary.

Motion:  To enter Executive Session for the expressed purpose of discussing a special education issue.  We will reconvene in General Session only to adjourn.  Moved Pat Barrett, Seconded Anita Weinstein.  Roll Call Vote:  Patrick Barrett-yes, Laurie Nikituk-yes, Roberta Sarnacki-yes, John Skrip-yes, Anita Weinstein-yes.

Motion:  To adjourn the meeting at 8:30 PM.  Moved John Skrip, Seconded Pat Barrett.  Voted Unanimous.
