MINUTES
Members Present: Hanna Barrett, Ernie Hood, Laurie Nikituk, Roberta Sarnacki, John Skrip, Anita Weinstein, Jane Gleason, Jo Ann Austin.
Guests: Russ Loring
Reorganization of School Committee: Jo Ann Austin asked for nominations for Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary of the School Committee for the 2009-2010 school year.
Motion: To nominate Laurie Nikituk as School Committee chairperson. Moved Anita Weinstein. Seconded John Skrip. Voted Unanimous.
Motion: To nominate John Skrip as School Committee Vice Chairperson. Moved Laurie Nikituk, Seconded Anita Weinstein. Voted Unanimous.
Motion: To nominate Jane Gleason as Secretary of the School Committee. Moved Laurie Nikituk, Seconded Anita Weinstein. Voted Unanimous.
Call to Order: Laurie Nikituk called the meeting to order at 7:08 PM.
Community Participation: Russ Loring expressed concern regarding the status of replacing our Preschool Van. Discussion followed on options and clarification of the Massachusetts Registry 7D requirements.
Approval of Minutes of Meeting #242: The Minutes of Meeting #242 were approved as submitted. Moved Anita Weinstein, Seconded Roberta Sarnacki. Voted Unanimous.
Approval of Executive Session Minutes: The Minutes of Executive Session were approved as submitted. Moved Anita Weinstein, Seconded Roberta Sarnacki. Voted Unanimous.
Laurie Nikituk thanked Ernie Hood and Pat Barrett for their service to the Committee and presented them with a token of our appreciation for their efforts.
Introduction of New Principal: Superintendent Austin introduced our new Principal, Mary Turo. Mary indicated she was looking forward to joining the administration and working with staff and students.
Cell Phone Policy: Jo Ann Austin explained the reasons behind the need for a cell phone policy. She provided a draft policy for the use of cell phones and other electronic devices. Discussion followed about the use of cell phones in school and on the bus.

Motion: To accept the first reading of the cell phone policy with revisions. Moved John Skrip, Seconded Anita Weinstein. Voted Unanimous.
Motion: To adjourn the meeting at 8:20 PM. Moved John Skrip, Seconded Hannah Barrett. Voted Unanimous.
